Where your download goes

iPhone and iPad

Safari saves the file to Files › Downloads. To move a video into Photos, open it in Files, tap Share and choose Save Video.

Android

Chrome saves the file to the Download folder. It also shows up in Google Photos or your Gallery app.

Windows and Mac

The file lands in your Downloads folder and plays in any video player or browser.

What is VidThreads?

VidThreads is a free online tool for saving media from public Threads posts. Threads has no download button for videos, so we read the public post, find the original video and photo files, and pass them to you as normal downloads.

We do not keep copies of the files you download and we do not ask for your Threads account. The site is funded by ads.

When a download does not work

  • The account is private. Only posts that anyone can see without logging in can be downloaded.
  • The post has no video or photo. Text-only posts have nothing to save.
  • The post was deleted or the link is incomplete. Open the link in your browser to check it.
  • The download link expired. Threads media links are only valid for a limited time, so paste the post link again and download right away.

Is VidThreads free?

Yes. There is no sign-up, no download limit tied to an account and no paid tier. The site shows ads to cover server costs.

What quality do I get?

The highest version Threads serves for that post, unchanged. Videos are MP4 with sound (720×1280 in our tests), photos are JPEG at full size (up to 1440×1920 in our tests).

Can I download a post with several photos and videos?

Yes. Every item in a carousel post gets its own preview and Download button.

Does it work on iPhone?

Yes. Download in Safari, then open the file in Files › Downloads and use Share › Save Video to add it to Photos.

Why does it say something went wrong?

Usually the post is from a private account, has no media, or was deleted. Check that the link opens in a browser without logging in, then try again.

Do you store my downloads?

No. Files pass through our server to your device and are not saved. We do not need or ask for your Threads login.

Will the account owner know I downloaded their post?

No. Threads does not notify anyone when a public post is viewed or saved through VidThreads.

Is it legal to download Threads videos?

Saving public posts for personal viewing is generally fine. Re-uploading or using someone else’s content commercially needs the owner’s permission.
